  • Course Aim:

    A course, suitable for occupational therapists from physical and mental health settings. The course covers completing functional assessments and cognitive assessments, teaching of the Allen's Cognitive Level screen, reporting findings in meetings, then combining this information into coherent and robust occupational therapy reports. Report templates and case examples are reviewed to integrate knowledge to strengthen clinical practice.

    Includes morning tea and afternoon tea with a memory stick of all course presentations, report templates, and journal articles.

    Course Content:

    • Occupational therapy functional assessments, importance in clinical practice, functional assessment workshop.

    • Occupational therapy and cognitive assessments, administering cognitive assessments, cultural bias, reporting results linked to occupational performance with literature review.

    • The Allen’s Cognitive Disability Model – its history from Claudia Allen, functional cognition, Allen’s Cognitive Levels with literature review.

    • Administering and applying the Allen’s Cognitive Level Screento ascertain persons’ occupational capabilities.

    • Reporting to MDT and family meetings, approaches to report occupational therapy assessments and treatment.

    • Putting it all together: Completing robust occupational therapy reports and recommendations from your assessment findings
